The Parc Floral de la Source opened
in 1963, part of an ambitious project of urbanisation initiated by the City of Orleans and the Conseil Général du Loiret.
Situated in the Loire Valley, inscribed since 2000 on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, the Parc Floral de la Source embraces the shapes of the natural site.
Its singular geographic location, at the border between the hillsides of the Sologne region and the plain of the Val de Loire, gives the landscape its distinctive contours. At the park’s very centre, after pursuing an underground course of several kilometres, the source of the Loiret River emerges.
Today, the Parc Floral is actively engaged in restoration, preservation and the use of sound environmental practices. Which is why in certain spaces we limit the interventions of gardeners, allowing varied natural flora and fauna to thrive. By the same logic, no environmentally dangerous products are used in the rose garden, the butterfly greenhouse, the vegetable garden or the orchard.
